Instructions for performing work on the cooling system (BMW X5 E53)

When working on the cooling system, there is always a risk of getting burned by steam, so all work should only be carried out on a cooled engine.

The cooling system should only be opened when the engine has cooled down to prevent air from entering the cooling system.

When performing work on the fuel, lubrication and cooling systems, the generator should be protected from contamination by covering it with a thick polyethylene film.

The collected drained coolant must be disposed of.
