The fan and viscous fan clutch must be replaced in the following order. Prepare tools "11.5.030" and "11.5.040". Unscrew the fan casing mounting bolts and remove it.
Device 11.5.030 |
Device 11.5.040 |
Holding the pulley from turning with the device "11.5.030", using the device "11.5.040", loosen the union nut (M32) of the coolant pump, the nut thread is left. When unscrewing the nut, you can hold the coolant pump shaft by squeezing the poly V-belt of its drive, which ensures that the hub is held from turning.
After loosening the nut, unscrew it completely, holding it with a wrench and rotating the impeller. Make sure that the impeller does not fall. If necessary, you can disconnect the impeller from the viscous coupling by unscrewing the bolts (3, M6 - 3 pcs.) of its fastening on the back side of the coupling.
When installing the fan and its coupling, it is necessary to tighten the bolts securing the fan impeller to the viscous coupling to a torque of 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m).
Caution! When using the "11.5.040" tool with a torque wrench, the 30 Nm reading on the wrench scale corresponds to an actual tightening torque of 40 Nm.
Using the "11.5.040" tool, tighten the fan mounting nut to the coolant pump hub to a torque of 40 N·m (4.0 kgf·m). Make sure that when installing the fan shroud with the fan, the lower mounting strips of the shroud enter the lugs on the radiator. Damaged clamps or pins must be replaced.
