Replacement of the casing and electric fan (BMW X5 E53)

            0

Attention! When performing work, do not allow damage to the radiator fins.

The fan casing must be replaced in the following order. Read information from the fault memory of the DDE system ECU. Turn off the ignition and remove the radiator cap.

Remove the air intake casing and release the cooling system hose from the holders on the fan casing (bottom). Remove the fan impeller together with its drive coupling. Remove the casing fastening rivets (top).

Unlock and disconnect the SS from the AUC system sensor. Release the connector from the clamps. If necessary, release the AUC system sensor from the clamps.

Remove the air intake casing. Release the coolant hose from the holder on the fan casing (bottom). Remove the fan impeller together with its drive coupling. Remove the expansion rivets.

Remove the fan shroud (1, Fig. 6.99) together with the electric fan in an upward movement.

The fan shroud should be installed in the reverse order, with the shroud tabs aligning with the holder on the cooling system radiator. Assemble the engine and erase the information from the fault memory.
