Attention! All work on checking the tightness of the cooling system should be carried out on a cold engine, to avoid steam burns. Residual coolant can stick the safety valve to the cover, so it should be checked 2-3 times.
The cooling system should be checked for leaks in the following order. Prepare the tools "17.0.002", "17.0.005" and "17.0.007".
Check the pressure drop in the cooling system:
- remove the cap from the expansion tank of the cooling system and install the devices "17.0.002" and "17.0.005" (fig. 6.100).

- create an excess pressure of 1.5 bar using a hand pump (device "17.0.002") (1.5 kgf/cm²);
- wait two minutes if the pressure drop does not exceed 0.1 bar (0.1 kgf/cm²), then the cooling system is sealed.
- Check the overpressure safety valve in the cover, for this install the device "17.0.007" on the cover and using the device (hand pump) "17.0.002" create pressure and use the pressure gauge to determine the pressure at which the safety valve opens;
- compare the opening pressure of the safety valve, which should be 1.40+0,2 bar.
Removal of the fuel tank must be carried out in the same manner as for engines "M54"... "N62", using the device "16.1.060".
