Attention! All work on checking the tightness of the cooling system should be carried out on a cold engine, in order to avoid steam burns. Residual coolant can stick the safety valve to the cover, so it should be checked 2-3 times.
Checking the cooling system for leaks must be carried out in the following order. Prepare fixtures «17.0.002», «17.0.005» And «17.0.007».
Check the pressure drop in the cooling system:
- remove the cap from the expansion tank of the cooling system and install the tools «17.0.002» And «17.0.005» (pic. 6.100).
- create a hand pump (fixture «17.0.002») overpressure of 1.5 bar (1.5 kgf/cm2);
- wait two minutes if the pressure drop does not exceed 0.1 bar (0.1 kgf/cm2), the cooling system is sealed.
- Check the overpressure safety valve in the cover, to do this, install the tool «17.0.007» on the lid and with the help of the tool (hand pump) «17.0.002» create pressure and use the pressure gauge to determine the pressure at which the safety valve opens;
- compare the opening pressure of the safety valve, which should be 1.40+0.2 bar.
Removing the fuel tank must be carried out in the same order as for engines «M54» … «N62», using fixture «16.1.060».
