Refueling a car (BMW 3 Series E46)

The filler cap opens by pressing on its rear edge.
For information on unlocking the lid when the single lock fails, refer to Section Manually unlocking the fuel filler flap.
When handling fuel at filling stations, follow the safety instructions posted there.

The fuel tank cap should be inserted into the holder on the back of the fuel filler cap.
When refueling, place the fuel nozzle on the fuel tank neck. If you lift the nozzle during refueling, this will lead to:
- to stop the fuel supply
- to weakening the removal of gasoline vapors, if the gun has a system for removing these vapors
Tire pressure (Please refer to Specifications).

You will also find the pressure standards on the plate on the driver's door pillar. The plate is visible when the door is open.
Pressure check
Pressure standards (refer to Specifications) brought to the bar (excess pressure) for cold (i.e. having the ambient temperature) tires.
When towing a trailer, only the pressure standards applicable to operation with increased loads apply.
Vehicles with tire pressure monitoring (RDC)*:
After bringing the pressure to normal, the system should be activated again, refer to Section Tire Pressure Monitoring System (RDC).
Regularly (at least twice a month) and check the tire pressure before long trips. Deviation of tire pressure from the norm can cause damage to them and loss of control, and thus lead to an accident.
Also check the pressure in the compact/spare wheel*. The spare wheel must be maintained at the maximum pressure stated in the Specifications.
