Removal

1. Different models may be equipped with one of two types of front amplifier: either frame-type ("cross") or flat.

2. Apply the parking brake, raise the front of the vehicle and place it on reliable supports. Remove the engine crankcase guard.

Frame structure reinforcement

3. Unscrew the four bolts and remove the amplifier (Fig. 14.3).

3. Unscrew the four bolts and remove the amplifier (Fig. 14.3).

Flat design amplifier

4. Unscrew 8 screws and remove the amplifier (Fig. 14.4).

4. Unscrew 8 screws and remove the amplifier (Fig. 14.4).

Installation

Frame structure reinforcement

5. Install the frame in place and secure it with bolts. If the frame touches any support or bracket, a special washer must be placed under the frame.

6. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

Flat design amplifier

7. Since February 2001, cars have been equipped with 66 mm long lower control arm bushings. In connection with this, the design of the amplifier has been slightly modified. To accommodate the extended bushings, two stampings have been made in the amplifier. If an older design amplifier is installed on a model with extended bushings, washers of the appropriate thickness should be placed under the rear attachment points of the amplifier to the body. The bushings should not touch the amplifier. Install the amplifier in place, insert new bolts with washers of the required thickness and tighten the bolts to the required torque.

Amplifiers of all types

8. Install the engine guard under the engine and lower the vehicle to the ground.
