Removal and installation the actuator motor of the central control locking system (BMW 5 Series E34)

Removal

Remove the door trim.



Unscrew bolts 1 securing the actuator motor. Before removing, mark the position of the bolts so that you can later install the motor in the same position.

Disconnect the electrical wires from the actuator motor. To do this, insert a screwdriver between the metal bracket and the connector and press to the right, see the figure.

Disconnect the motor from the traction connection with the lock, pull the actuator motor out of the door.

Installation

Connect the rods to the actuator motor.

Connect the actuator motor connector and insert the bracket on the side. After that, the connector inserts itself.

Insert the actuator motor into the door without tightening the bolts, the motor will still need to be moved.

Align the actuator motor, for which:

• Press the rotary latch to the "closed" position or close the door.
• Turn the key in the lock to the "closed" position, the actuator motor pulls the rod.
• Move the actuator motor back slightly in the mounting holes to compensate for play in the rods.

In this position, tighten and lightly tighten the 2 actuator motor bolts to 2 Nm.

Check the operation of the central locking system and the lock. If necessary, also align the motor.



Install door trim.
