Withdrawal
Using a SW 32 wrench, unscrew the fan mount to the coolant pump hub.
Attention: The nut has a left-hand thread, so it must turn to the right.
When loosening the nut, compress the coolant pump drive V-belt to secure the hub and prevent it from turning. If the nut is too tight, hit the wrench with a suitable hammer to loosen the nut. (At service stations for BMW cars, a special tool is used to hold the V-belt pulley behind the heads of the mounting bolts). Once the nut is released, it can be further tightened by turning the fan wheel. When doing this, make sure that the fan wheel does not fall down.
Unfasten the fan cover at the top left and right. To do this, use a narrow screwdriver to press the expansion pin, and then press the expansion clip.
Press the fan shroud at the top in the middle back and unfasten the tab.
Remove the fan together with the cover towards the top.
If the fan wheel and the viscous coupling must be separated, unscrew the mounting bolts and pull out the coupling.
Installation
Insert the viscous coupling into the fan wheel and tighten the mounting bolts to 10 Nm.
Attention: In order to avoid damage to the threads and the coupling, never overtighten the bolts.
Insert the casing with the fan from above so that both lower retaining bars fit into the lugs on the radiator housing.
Insert the expanding clamp and fix it with a pin. Replace damaged clips or pins.
Screw fan with coupling to coolant pump hub to 40 Nm. In this case, hold the hub with a V-belt or by the heads of the hub bolts.
Attention: Do not distort the nut during installation.
