Removal and installation the air conditioning compressor (BMW 7 Series E38)

1. Remove the accessory protection panel.

2. Drain the refrigerant, replace the desiccant tank if necessary.

3. Remove the A/C compressor drive belt (see chapter Engine).

1. Remove the screws and disconnect the suction and discharge pipes.

2. Loosen the bolts, disconnect the connector and remove the compressor by moving it upwards (models with M51 engine) or down (models with M52 engine).



3. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

1. On models with an engine M57 remove the molded hose between the MAF sensor and the turbocharger.

2. On models with engines M60, M62 (M67, M73) remove the air cleaner housing (right).

3. Disconnect the connector, remove the screws and disconnect the suction and return pipes.

Replace the sealing rings when installing.

5. Disconnect the connector (1), unscrew the screw (2) of the oil line holder and screws (3). Carefully pull down and push aside the power steering pump (4), avoiding deformation of the oil lines connected to the pump (4).
