2. Lock the flywheel from turning using special tool No.11 2 070 (for engines M60, M62 and M73) or No.11 2 170 (for other engines).

3. Loosen the bolts crosswise by 1 turn until the force is removed from the clutch pressure spring. Remove the clutch basket and driven disk.
4. Clean the flywheel and clutch pressure plate from dirt and check them for wear and damage. Replace the flywheel or clutch pressure plate if necessary.
5. Check the ease of movement and absence of beating of the front bearing of the manual transmission input shaft and replace the bearing if necessary.
6. Check the flywheel mounting bolts for oil leaks. Replace the bolts if necessary.
7. Check the driven clutch disc for damage and rust on the splines; replace the driven disc if necessary.
Contaminated with foreign substances (oil, cleaning agent, etc.) driven disks must be replaced.

8. Check the clutch driven disc for wear. To do this, measure the protrusion of the friction lining on the rivets for its fastening, each time at the closing head (A). The clutch driven disc should be replaced if the protrusion of the lining at the closing head less than 1 mm. Install the driven clutch disc on the pre-cleaned input shaft of the manual transmission and make sure that the disc moves easily on the shaft.
9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. The driven clutch disc requires careful handling: do not touch the surfaces of the friction linings, install the driven disc correctly, in accordance with the marks "Motorseite" (engine side) and "Getriebeseite" (rCPP side). Center the clutch slave disc using tool No.21 2 130 (for 5-speed manual transmission) or No.21 2 120 (for 5-speed manual transmission).
10. When installing the clutch basket, screw in the bolts by hand and tighten them in a cross pattern by 1 turn each time to the required force.
