2. Block the flywheel with special tool no. 11 2 070 (for M60, M62 and M73 engines) or No. 11 2 170 (for other engines).
3. Turn out in a cross order on 1 turn bolts before removal of effort from a pressure spring of coupling. Remove the clutch basket and driven disc.
4. Clean the flywheel and clutch pressure plate from dirt and check them for wear and damage. If necessary, replace the flywheel or clutch pressure plate.
5. Check the ease of movement and the absence of runouts of the front bearing of the input shaft of the manual transmission and, if necessary, replace the bearing.
6. Check the flywheel mounting bolts for oil leaks. Replace bolts if necessary.
7. Check the clutch disc for damage and rust on the splines, replace the clutch disc if necessary.
Contaminated with foreign matter (oil, cleaning agent, etc.) driven discs must be replaced.
8. Check the clutch disc for wear. To do this, measure the protrusion of the friction lining on the rivets for its fastening, each time along the closing head (A). The clutch disc must be replaced if the protrusion of the lining on the closing head less than 1 mm. Install the clutch disc onto the pre-cleaned manual transmission input shaft and check that the disc slides easily on the shaft.
9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. The clutch driven disc requires careful handling: do not touch the surfaces of the friction linings, install the driven disc correctly, in accordance with the marks «Motorseite» (engine side) And «Getriebeseite» (manual transmission side). Center the clutch disc using tool no. 21 2 130 (for 5-speed manual transmission) or No. 21 2 120 (for 5-speed manual transmission).
10. When installing the clutch basket, screw in the bolts by hand and tighten them in a cross pattern each time by 1 turn with the required force.
