Diagnosis of tire faults
| Wear | Cause |
| More severe tire wear on both sides of the tread | Too low air pressure in inflated tires |
| More severe tire wear in the middle of the tread all around the perimeter | Too high air pressure in inflated tires |
| Uneven wear on the side of the tire tread pattern | Static and dynamic imbalance of the wheel. Possibly too much lateral runout of the rim, too much clearance in the joints of independent suspensions |
| Uneven wear in the middle of the tire tread pattern | Static imbalance of the wheel, which may be due to a large runout in height |
| Heavy wear in isolated areas in the middle of the tread | Skid marks left on the road by locked wheels when a vehicle brakes to a complete stop |
| Scaly or saw-tooth wear of the tire tread pattern. In severe cases, this is due to a tear in the fabric that becomes visible from the outside after a while | Overloading the vehicle. Check the inside of the tires for fabric rupture! |
| Rubber tongues on the side edges of the tire tread pattern. | Incorrect wheel alignment. Tires are significantly worn (mostly one-sided). Also check the condition of the shock absorbers on the rear wheels! |
| Formation of burrs on the side of the front wheel tread pattern | Incorrect installation of steering wheels. |
| The tires have significant wear (mostly one-sided). | Frequent driving on heavily curved road surfaces. Fast cornering |
| Impact cracks in the tire carcass. Initially visible only inside the tire | Driving over sharp rocks, hitting rails or something similar at high speed |
| One-sided wear of the tread pattern | Check the wheel alignment |
