Radio receiver — general information (BMW X5 E53)

The range of medium, long and short waves of the radio receiver provides a greater range of reception. In the VHF (FM) range, significantly higher quality of reception and sound reproduction is provided than in any other range of waves. However, this range is limited by the rectilinearity of wave propagation. This disadvantage is compensated by the use of the RDS system (Radio Data System), which provides automatic selection of the frequency with the highest reception quality if the radio station broadcasts on several frequencies. BMW cars of the X5 series E53 are equipped with three independent antennas. The built-in processor automatically selects the antenna that provides the highest reception quality in the VHF range.
