Caution! The wiper arm rods are quite fragile, do not apply significant force to them.
The windshield wipers are controlled by a lever switch (see fig. 1.26), located on the steering column, to the right of the steering wheel.

Windscreen wiper drive lever type (1, Fig. 16.9) located in a niche under glass.

The rear window wiper drive components are shown in Figure 16.10.

The windshield wiper and windshield washer are controlled by an electronic module, depending on the speed of the car and the intensity of wetting of the windshield (rain). When the car is stationary, the frequency of the windshield wiper blades is the lowest, with an increase in the speed of the car, the frequency increases. If desired, an automatic control system for the intervals of movement of the brushes - AIC can be installed (automatic interval control).
The procedure for removing and installing the turn signal and windshield wiper switches is identical. The procedure for removing the switch is discussed in the Manual using the turn signal switch as an example. When using the material provided, you should also refer to the section "Steering".
During operation, the windshield wiper blades wear out and the washer nozzles become clogged. You can replace either the entire windshield wiper blade or just the blade. Cleaning the windshield washer nozzles requires their removal. When adjusting the direction of the jets, you must use the BMW-4850-1 device or a special pin with a diameter of 0.8 mm, slowly rotating it to the right/left.
