Replacing engine mount brackets (BMW X5 E53)

The bracket (2) of the right engine mount must be replaced in the following order. Remove the engine auxiliary mechanism protection panel and secure the engine in the mounting position. Remove the stiffening plate and lower the front axle beam. Disconnect the ground connection jumper from the bracket (2) of the engine mount. Working from above, unscrew the nuts (7) of both engine mount cushions (6).

Raise the engine using the "00.0.200" tool and disconnect the engine mount cushion (6) from the front axle beam. Mark the bolts (4, 5), unscrew them and remove the engine mount bracket (2).

When installing the bracket (2):
  • tighten the bolts (8) securing the engine mounts to the front axle beam to a torque of 19 N·m (1.9 kgf·m),
  • tighten the bolts (5, M8) securing the support bracket to the engine to a torque of 38 N·m (3.8 kgf·m),
  • tighten the nut (7, M10) on the mounting cushion to a torque of 56 N·m (5.6 kgf·m).

Attention! The right engine mount cushion has an even part number, the left one has an odd part number.


The replacement of the bracket (1) of the left engine support must be carried out in a similar order.
