The coolant pump is driven by the accessory drive belt. In front, on the pump shaft, a fan impeller with a viscous coupling is fixed. The design of the coolant pump is shown in fig. 4.16.
Replacement of the pump of a cooling liquid is necessary for carrying out in a following order. Remove the alternator drive belt, drain the coolant and send it for recycling.
Remove the radiator, viscous fan impeller, vibration damper, thermostat housing, coolant pump hub pulley, coolant hoses.
Mark the coolant pump mounting bolts, unscrew them and remove the pump.
When installing the pump, clean the sealing surfaces and replace the sealing gasket. Make sure that the centering sleeves are in the correct position (arrows, fig. 4.106).
bolts (M6) fastenings of the thermostat housing tighten to a torque of 10 Nm (1.0 kgf·m). four bolts (M6) tighten the pulley fasteners to a torque of 10 Nm (1.0 kgf·m). Install drain plug (M14x1.5), replacing the sealing ring, and tighten it with a torque of 25 Nm (2.5 kgf·m).
Fill the system with coolant, remove air from the system, start the engine, warm it up and check the system for leaks. Check coolant level and top up if necessary.
