The coolant pump must be replaced in the following order. Drain the coolant and send it for disposal. Remove the fan casing and electric fan. Remove the generator drive belt.
Unlock and disconnect the shock absorbers (1, Fig. 5.164) from temperature sensors on the thermostat.

Loosen the bolt (arrow) and remove the vacuum line clamp. Unlock and disconnect all cooling system hoses from the coolant pump. Loosen the bolts (4 pcs.) and remove the pulley (2).
Remove the torsional vibration damper. Mark the coolant pump mounting bolts, unscrew them and remove the pump.
When installing the pump, clean the sealing surfaces on the engine and replace the sealing gasket. Make sure the centering sleeve is positioned correctly. Clean the sealing surfaces on the pump body and replace the sealing rings (1 and 2, Fig. 5.165).

Replace both pipes and lubricate the sealing areas with grease to facilitate the sliding of the rubber. The small diameter pipe is installed with a liquid cooling generator.
Assemble the engine. Fill the system with coolant, bleed the air from the system, start the engine, warm it up and check the system for leaks. Check the coolant level and restore it if necessary.
Note: The replacement coolant pump is supplied without a thermostat and temperature sensors; when installing it, the listed components should be relocated from the pump being removed.
