Unlock and disconnect the shock absorber (1, Fig. 5.188) left intake camshaft position sensor. Release the cable from the holder. Loosen the sensor mounting bolt on the engine cylinder head and remove the left intake camshaft position sensor.

When installing the sensor, check the sealing ring for possible damage, replace it if necessary. To facilitate sliding, lubricate the sealing ring with technical petroleum jelly.
After replacing the crankshaft position sensor, it is necessary to read the fault information from the memory of the ECU-KSUD of the "DME" system. Eliminate the faults and erase the fault information from the memory of the ECU.
The right intake camshaft position sensor on cylinder bank 1–4 is located on the cylinder head and should be replaced in the same order as the left intake camshaft position sensor on cylinder bank 5–8.
