Adjustment data of the manual transmission «S5D 280Z» (BMW X5 E53)

Axial clearance of the primary shaft is 0.00–0.09 mm.

Secondary shaft axial clearance: 0.00–0.09 mm.

Radial runout of the secondary shaft journal is 0.07 mm.

Radial runout of the secondary shaft flange is 0.07 mm.

The end runout of the secondary shaft flange is 0.10 mm.

Distance between the locking ring and the end face of the synchronizer ring gear:
  • synchronizer of 1st and 2nd gears — 1.1 – 1.6 mm;
  • synchronizer III gear - 0.95 - 1.35 mm;
  • synchronizer IV and V gears - 0.95 - 1.35 mm;
  • maximum permissible wear - 0.80 mm;
  • reverse gear synchronizer - 0.70 - 1.15 mm;
  • maximum permissible wear of the reverse gear is 0.50 mm.
