Replacing the clutch release bearing guide bushing (BMW X5 E53)

The replacement of the clutch release bearing guide sleeve installed on the manual transmission must be carried out in the following order. Remove the gearbox. Remove the release bearing and clutch release fork from the guide sleeve. Unscrew the bolts (3, see Fig. 8.31) fastening the guide sleeve (2) and remove it.

When installing a new guide bushing, it is necessary to remove the sticker and traces of glue on the bushing; solvents such as acetone can be used.

When installing, tighten the M6x12 guide bushing mounting bolts to a torque of 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m), and the M8x30 bolts to a torque of 25 N·m (2.5 kgf·m).
