Remove the air filter and cylinder head cover.
Drain the coolant and disconnect the wires from the battery terminals.
On carbureted engines
Disconnect the cooling system hoses and electrical wires from the thermostat housing.
Disconnect the fuel supply and drain hoses and electrical wires from the carburetor.
Disconnect the throttle control rod and remove it from the intermediate support.
Disconnect the ignition distributor vacuum hoses. Disconnect the electrical wire from the coolant temperature sensor.
Disconnect the chocks from the carburetor solenoid shut-off valves.
Disconnect the vacuum hose (large diameter) complete with check valve (white color) and the coolant hose from the rear of the cylinder head.
After loosening the adjusting nuts of the throttle control rod, disconnect it from the throttle control sector.
Unscrew the adjusting nuts of the throttle control rod and remove it through the hole in the intake manifold.
On engines with a fuel injection system
Remove the air supply cover.
Disconnect the throttle control link from the lever and remove it from the intermediate support.
Disconnect the fuel supply lines to the injectors from the mixture regulator.
Disconnect the fuel supply line from the mixture regulator and remove the fuel line bracket located near the air flow meter.
Disconnect the hoses under the throttle body and the vacuum hoses.
Disconnect the blocks from the starting nozzle and from the additional air supply valve.
Disconnect the cooling system hoses from the rear of the cylinder head and the vacuum hose from the intake manifold.
Disconnect the cooling system hoses from the junction box.
On all engines
Disconnect wires from candles and remove a cover of the gauge distributor of ignition.
Loosen the alternator drive belt tensioner bolt.
Remove the alternator drive pulley and V-belt.
Remove the TDC sensor.
Remove the spark plugs from the cylinder head.
Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the TDC of the compression stroke; in this case, the mounting protrusion on the protective cover of the camshaft drive belt must be against the mark «FROM» on the rim of the vibration damper, and the marks on the rotor and the housing of the ignition distributor must match.
Remove the camshaft drive belt cover.
Loosen the roller tension bolts. Loosen the toothed belt by moving the tensioner roller towards the engine, and without changing the position of the roller, tighten the upper bolt of its fastening.
Remove the toothed belt from the camshaft pulley.
Move the compensation tube down and fix it with special tool 11 1 290.
Loosen the head bolts and remove it.
