Attention: The throttle cable is sensitive to bending and therefore requires special care during installation. A single slight bend in the cable can cause the cable to break later. Therefore, cables with bends must not be installed.
On vehicles with cruise control ("Tempomat") another cable is attached to the throttle lever. If required, this cable is disconnected in the same way as the throttle cable.
Adjustment
Press the gas pedal all the way (full throttle position) and in this position, fix the gas pedal with a suitable board inserted between the pedal and the seat.
Push the throttle lever to the full throttle position and screw in the adjusting nut -6- until the throttle cable is tensioned. The figure shows the intake manifold of a four-cylinder engine manufactured since September 1993, as well as models 318is / ti.
Release the gas pedal.
Disconnecting the throttle cable from the throttle lever
Operate the throttle lever to relieve the throttle cable nipple.
Pull the nipple -3- out of the clip with a narrow screwdriver.
Press clip -2-, pull out of hole in throttle lever and remove from throttle cable -1-.
Disconnect the throttle cable through the slot on the throttle lever.
Pull cable sheath out of rubber cap -4-.
Pull the cable through the rubber end.
Connection
Insert the throttle cable through the rubber tip of the support, insert the cable sheath into the rubber tip.
Slide the plastic clip onto the throttle cable.
Give a little gas with the throttle lever, insert the cable into the holder hole, snap the clamp and insert the nipple into the clamp.
Check throttle cable adjustment.
