Switching on the tempostat
The tempostat can be switched on already after turning the ignition key to position 1. Press button 1. At the same time, the control lamp on the dashboard will light up.
You can use the tempostat.
Driving at a given speed, memorizing the speed and accelerating
Press button 2.
The actual speed of movement is entered into the memory of the tempostat, which will be maintained constant. Each subsequent press of the button will increase the speed by 1 km/h.
If you keep button 2 pressed, the car will accelerate without affecting the accelerator pedal. If you release the button, the speed reached so far will remain in memory and will be maintained at this level.
Slowdown
Press button 3.
If before that the movement has already occurred in the mode of maintaining the set speed, then each time you press the button, the speed will decrease by 1 km / h.
If you keep button 3 pressed, then when driving in the mode of maintaining the set speed, the degree of opening of the throttle valve will automatically decrease and the movement will slow down. If you release the button, the speed reached so far will remain in memory and will be maintained at this level.

With the tempostat on, press the button 1. The control lamp continues to burn. If necessary, you can use the tempostat again.
In addition, the operation of the tempostat is automatically interrupted in the following cases:
- When braking.
- When the clutch is disengaged or when the AT selector lever is moved from the position D into position N.
- For BMW 318i, 320i, 323i, 328i: if the set speed is exceeded for more than 30 seconds and more than 16 km/h.
- For BMW 320d: if the set speed is exceeded for more than 30 s and more than 16 km/h or decrease by more than 20 km/h
Speed recall
Press button 4.
The last of the entered speed values will be called, to which it will first be brought, and then it will be maintained at a given level. When the ignition key is turned to position 0, the tempostat will turn off and the entered speed value will be erased.
Switching off the tempostat
Having interrupted the operation of the tempostat, press button 1 again. The control lamp will go out, and the speed value stored in the memory will be erased.
Tempostat cannot be used if the track is full of turns or if the increased traffic density does not allow moving evenly, as well as on slippery (due to snow, rain, ice) road or weak (gravel, sand) ground.
If the braking effect of the engine is insufficient when driving downhill, the set speed may be exceeded. On the slopes, it may decrease if the engine power is not enough.
