The desired driving speed, starting from approximately 40 km/h, can be maintained and set automatically.
1 - ACCELERATION
Press the lever slightly - the speed of movement at the moment of pressing the lever is saved during further movement and is remembered. Each subsequent touch of the lever increases the speed by approximately 1 km/h.
Press the lever and hold it in this position - the car accelerates without pressing the accelerator pedal. The speed at the moment of releasing the lever is saved during further movement and is remembered.
If the recorded speed was exceeded by more than 10 km/h for more than 1 minute, the speed maintenance mode is interrupted and must be activated again.
On the BMW 525tds and vehicles equipped with the Automatic Stability Control and Traction Control (ASC+T) system, the cruise control mode is interrupted and must be resumed again after the recorded speed has been exceeded by 16 km/h or decreased by 8 km/h.
2 - SLOW DOWN
Press and hold the lever in this position - if you were moving at a fixed speed, the car slows down due to an automatic reduction in fuel supply. The speed at the moment of releasing the lever is saved during further movement and is remembered.
On the BMW 525tds and vehicles equipped with the Automatic Stability and Traction Control (ASC+T) system, the vehicle slows down due to an automatic reduction in fuel supply. The speed at which the lever was released is maintained during further movement and is remembered.
Press the lever slightly - if you have already moved at a fixed speed, each subsequent touch of the lever reduces the speed by approximately 1 km/h. On the BMW 525tds, as well as cars equipped with the Automatic Stability and Traction Control (ASC+T) system, the speed is saved and remembered. Each subsequent touch of the lever reduces the speed by approximately 1 km/h.
3 - RESTORE THE LAST SPEED VALUE
Briefly press the lever from the end - the speed entered into the memory last time is achieved again and is saved while driving.
4 — SWITCH OFF
Press the lever slightly - the speed control is switched off regardless of driving conditions and road situation.
In addition, automatic speed control is automatically switched off if the speed decelerates significantly by more than 1.5 m/s² compared to the set speed, for example on inclines, when braking and engaging the clutch, or when shifting the automatic transmission lever from position D to position N.
When stopping:
Do not turn on automatic speed control if:
- the roads are full of sharp turns;
- heavy traffic does not allow movement at a constant speed;
- the road is slippery (snow, rain, ice) or the road surface is not firm enough (stones, sand).
