Removing the water pump
Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
Unscrew the radiator filler plug and open the valve of the body interior heater by placing the switch handle in the position «warm» («warm air»). Place a container under the engine to drain the fluid, disconnect the outlet hose from the radiator, unscrew the drain plug located at the rear of the cylinder block on the right, and drain the fluid.
Remove the heatsink and fan.
Loosen and remove the alternator drive belt.
Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses from the water pump and remove the water pump.
Disassembly and assembly of the water pump
Press the pump drive pulley with a universal double-lever puller.
Remove the circlip and press the impeller and bearing off the shaft using a press.
Compress cuff 2 (see photo) and thrust sealing ring 3.
Rinse the parts and check their technical condition. Assemble the water pump in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- Press the impeller onto the roller, applying Loctite AVV type sealant to the mating surfaces. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain the size «B» 1±0.2mm shown in photo. When installing previously used parts, apply a pressing force of approximately 400 kgf, and for new parts it should be equal to 500 kgf;
- when installing the hub, keep the size «A» 91.8±0.2mm shown in photo.
Water pump installation
Thoroughly clean mating surfaces and replace copper washers.
In the future, the installation of the water pump is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Fill in the coolant by first turning the handle of the heater tap control switch fully clockwise.
Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
