| The transmission makes extraneous noises only in one gear | Gears in constant engagement are damaged or worn out. |
| The synchronizers are damaged or worn out. | |
| The transmission makes extraneous noises in all gears | The lubricating fluid level has dropped (see chapter Routine car maintenance). |
| Bearings are damaged or worn out. | |
| The input shaft and/or output shaft is damaged or worn. | |
| The gearbox "jumps" out of the selected gear | The gear shift rod is worn out or its adjustment is impaired (see chapter Manual transmission (MT)). |
| The transmission-to-engine mounting bolts have become loose (see chapter Manual transmission (MT)). | |
| The shift rod is jammed (see chapter Manual transmission (MT)). The shift fork is worn out (see chapter Manual transmission (MT)). | |
| There are transmission oil leaks | There is too much transmission fluid in the gearbox (see Chapters Routine car maintenance and Manual transmission (MT)). |
| The primary shaft bearing holder is damaged or its fastening has become loose (see chapter Manual transmission (MT)). | |
| The sealing ring of the primary shaft bearing holder and/or the seal lips are damaged (see chapter Manual transmission (MT)). |
