Crankshaft bearing shells (BMW X5 E53)

            0

The main and connecting rod bearing shells are bimetallic three-layer. Radial clearance between the bearing shells and the main/connecting rod journals of the crankshaft:
  • nominal 0.020/0.020 mm;
  • maximum permissible 0.055/0.055 mm.

The permissible runout of the crankshaft on the middle journal, the shaft is installed on the outer support journals, is no more than 0.20 mm.

Thrust bearing size:
  • nominal 25.0 mm;
  • 1st rem. size 25.2 mm;
  • 2nd rev. size 25.4 mm;
  • tolerance from +0.053 to +0.020 mm.

If the gaps are greater than the maximum permissible, then the liners should be replaced with new ones. If the crankshaft journals are worn, they are ground to the nearest repair size, and the liners are replaced with repair ones (increased thickness).
