Turbocharger — design description (BMW X5 E53)

To increase engine power by increasing the filling of the combustion chamber with the working mixture (mixtures of air, exhaust gas residues and fuel) turbocharger is used (1, Fig. 6.20) with variable geometry and air-to-air charge air cooling system.



The TC itself is cooled by supplying oil to the bearings. The TC has a vacuum control system and a non-disassemblable design. In case of malfunction, it is subject to replacement.
