Since the clutch hydraulic system works on brake fluid, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the relevant instructions given in Chapter Removal of air from the brake system.
Brake fluid is poisonous. Never suck out brake fluid by mouth or through a hose. Store fluid in a container that cannot be accidentally accessed.
If air is removed without using the special device described here, some air may remain in the system. A sign of this is noise and proper disengagement of the clutch. In this case, it is urgent to remove air from the system at the service station using a special device.
1. Remove the bottom cover of the engine compartment, refer to Section Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
2. Check up a brake liquid in the tank, if necessary add up to mark Max, address to the Section Checking fluid levels.
3. Remove the dust cap from the bleed valve (arrow illustration) on the working hydraulic cylinder. Put a transparent hose on the fitting.
4. Carefully check the stroke of the fitting. Use a wrench to open so as not to damage the hexagon of the fitting.
5. Immerse the free end of the hose in a container of brake fluid to prevent air from entering the system.
6. Ask an assistant to press the clutch pedal about 10 times and keep it pressed.
7. In this position open the union -3-, at the same time liquid will begin to flow out. If the fluid flowing out no longer contains air bubbles, close the fitting.
Make sure that the brake fluid level in the reservoir does not drop significantly. To do this, add liquid.
8. Release the clutch pedal and press it again 10 times. Hold it pressed down and open the bleed valve. Repeat this process as many times as necessary to ensure that the liquid that flows out does not contain air bubbles. At the same time, constantly add liquid to the reservoir.
9. Close the fitting on the working hydraulic cylinder. Remove the hose and close the fitting with a cap.
10. Install the bottom cover of the engine compartment, refer to Section Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
11. Fill the system with brake fluid up to the Max mark.
12. Check the operation of the brake system and clutch.
Air removal using the device
At the service station, the air from the clutch drive is removed, as a rule, using a special device. The device creates pressure on the brake fluid.
13. Connect the instrument to the tank as described by its manufacturer.
14. Remove the working cylinder from the manual transmission, refer to the relevant section.
When the clutch is removed, do not press the clutch pedal.
15. Put a hose on the union of removal of air of the working cylinder. Lower the free end of the hose into a container with brake fluid.
16. Hold the clutch slave cylinder with the fitting facing up.
17. Open the fitting and let the fluid out until no more air bubbles appear.
In order not to squeeze the piston rod out of the hydraulic cylinder, the service station uses a threaded device, through which the rod is fixed or pushed in and out. If such a device is not available, the stem must be held by hand. In this case, the bleeder can only generate a slight pressure and must be operated by an assistant.
18. Slowly release the rod -1- a short distance and push it back into the working cylinder as far as it will go. Repeat this process until bubbles stop appearing. Then close the fitting.
19. Reinstall the clutch slave cylinder, refer to the appropriate section.
20. Remove the device for removal of air.
21. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid up to the Max mark. Screw the cap onto the reservoir.
