Every 38,000 km or every two years.
The transmission fluid should be changed at certain time/mileage intervals. Since the fluid remains hot for quite a long time after the engine is turned off, do this only after the engine has completely cooled down.
Before starting work, purchase the transmission fluid specified in Table of sizes and adjustment data at the end of the Guide, as well as a new filter.
Other tools required for this procedure include axle stands to secure the vehicle in a raised position, a drain container with a capacity of at least 4.5 liters, newspapers and a clean rag.
1. Jack up the vehicle and securely place it on axle stands.

2. Loosen the washer of the dipstick tube,..

...then disconnect the dipstick tube and allow the fluid to drain.

3. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the transmission oil pan brackets.

4. Disconnect the oil pan from the transmission and lower it, being careful not to spill any remaining fluid.
5. Carefully clean the oil pan/transmission mating surface.
6. Drain the liquid from the pan into a suitable container, then rinse the pan with solvent and dry it with compressed air. Carefully clean all metal particles from the magnet, if present.

7. Using a Torx key, loosen the filter bolts…

...then remove the filter from the transmission.

8. Remove the O-ring from the transmission. If it is in good condition, clean it and install it on the new filter, otherwise replace it.
9. Install the O-ring and new filter, tightening the mounting bolts securely.
10. Make sure the oil pan gasket mating surfaces are clean enough, then install a new gasket. Position the oil pan against the transmission, install the mounting brackets and install the bolts. Working around the oil pan, tighten each bolt a little at a time until the required torque is reached. Do not overtighten the bolts! Attach the feeler gauge tube and tighten the washer securely.
11. Lower the vehicle and add the required amount of fluid through the filler neck (see section Checking the Automatic Transmission Fluid Level).
12. Place the transmission in Park and set the parking brake, then run the engine at idle speed without pressing the accelerator pedal.
13. Move the selector lever through all the gears and return it to the "Park" position. Check the fluid level.
14. After the first few trips, check the underside of the vehicle for fluid leaks.
