Acoustic security alarm (BMW 5 Series E34)

            0

If one of the doors, hood or trunk is opened without authorization, the siren is activated for 30 seconds and the ignition is blocked. At the same time, the emergency light signaling is activated for 5 minutes (on some models, the low beam headlights also flash).

When attempting to start the engine or when manipulating the radio, glove box or battery, the siren sounds again for 30 seconds.

When attempting to start the engine or when manipulating the radio, glove box or battery, the siren…

When towing a vehicle, the siren also turns on after a short period of time.

The alarm system is switched on and off simultaneously with the vehicle being locked and unlocked via the central locking system (using a key or remote control).

When the alarm is on, the indicator (LED) on the top side of the dashboard lights up for 36 hours.

A flashing LED indicates that one of the doors, hood, trunk or glove compartment is not closed properly. But even with an open door, the system will automatically turn on after 10 seconds, and the LED will remain lit continuously.

When the alarm is turned off, the LED goes out. If the alarm is turned off when the LED is off (more than 36 hours later), it will blink.

After a break-in attempt and the alarm is activated, the indicator will flash for 36 hours to warn of this. It will go out when the system is turned off.

Access to the luggage compartment is also possible after the alarm is turned on. Flashing of the indicator for 10 seconds warns that the trunk lid, although closed, is not locked (turn the key to the right and pull it out).

Alarm with additional interior protection and vehicle tilt sensor*

The alarm will be activated if the rear or one of the side windows is broken (windows must be closed, gaps of up to 10 mm are allowed for ventilation in hot weather). The system will also react to the tilt of the car when attempting to remove the wheel - the tilt angle is monitored by the corresponding sensor.

If the indicator flashes after the alarm is turned on, this indicates that one or more windows are open (the gap above the top edge of the glass is more than 10 mm). But even if the window is not closed, after 10 seconds the system will switch to normal security mode, the indicator will be constantly on.

If necessary, you can turn off the acoustic alarm when the anti-theft system is on (for example, when transporting a car by ferry or when towing). To disable the vehicle tilt angle sensor, proceed as follows:

Immediately after turning on the anti-theft system, perform this procedure again (turn the key to the system on position or press buttons 2 and 3 on the remote control). The indicator will go out and come on again, and the tilt sensor will be disabled until the anti-theft system is turned on again.

Warning: Improper installation of door speakers may damage the vehicle's window protection system.

If the alarm cannot be turned off in the usual way, there is a backup option:
  • Open the door with the key (the siren turns on for 30 seconds);
  • Get into the car, close the door and turn the ignition key to position "1" (the siren turns on for 30 seconds);
  • Wait approximately 15 minutes until the LED goes out. During this time, do not open the door and keep the ignition key in position "1". The system will turn off.
