Further instructions for using the on-board computer (BMW 5 Series E34)

(All changes to any information program are possible only after pressing the corresponding function button).

Time and date are called up alternately by pressing the button. Entering the year is used to take into account leap years when calculating the date.

When a command is given to start the calculation from scratch, the average fuel consumption for the entire trip and, in addition, the consumption for a certain section of the route can be calculated simultaneously, for example. Calculated maximum range (power reserve) is continuously calculated based on the available fuel reserve and the current driving mode, and when called up is displayed on the display. When the power reserve is less than 15 km, 4 segments start flashing - it's time to refuel!

Fueling is registered by the computer only when the ignition key is set to position "1" or "0", and also when the fuel volume is more than 5 liters. The appearance of the "+" sign in front of the displayed value means that the real power reserve is greater than that shown on the display, since the fuel level starts to be taken into account from a certain level (and not from a full tank).

The low temperature warning is repeated if the temperature has risen to +6°C at least once and then dropped to +3°C again. Remember that there may be ice on the road even at temperatures higher than +3°C (for example, on bridges or on the shady side of the road).

Stopwatch: Maximum measurement time 99 hours 59 minutes. Displayed in the following units:
  • up to 1 minute: sec - 0.1 sec
  • up to 1 hour: min - sec
  • more than 1 hour: hour - min.

The stopwatch stops when the ignition key is turned to position "0", and continues to run starting from position "1".

Autonomous heating/ventilation

When you press the button in succession, the following is displayed: current state, switch-on time 1, switch-on time 2, and again the current state, etc.

The maximum permissible speed can be reset at any time and called up on the display. The speed warning is repeated every time the speed limit is exceeded by more than 5 km/h.

When the system is turned on, protection is provided against unauthorized opening of the hood, removal of the radio receiver and attempts to start the engine.

If the hood is open or the radio is removed, the indicator flashes for 10 seconds when the ignition key is turned to position "0". If, with the system on, the ignition key is turned to position "1" or "2", the sound signal and indicator "----- -Code" prompt you to enter a code. If you try to start the engine without entering the code, the siren will sound.

Emergency disabling of the anti-theft system if you have forgotten the code:

  • Disconnect the wires from the battery and reconnect them after about 5 minutes.
  • Set the ignition key to position "1" (the siren sounds).
  • The display shows the time value "15 min" and the countdown starts.
  • After 15 minutes the engine can be started.

If you remember the code value within 15 minutes of waiting, you can enter it as follows:
  • Click the "Code" button
  • Enter the value of the password code
  • Press the "S/R" button
  • Start the engine.
