Checking the fuel supply pressure (N52 K, M54) (BMW X3 E83)

            0

Caution: Fuel in the fuel lines is under pressure (approx. 5 bar). Collect and dispose of leaking fuel.

1. Turn off the ignition.

2. Remove the soundproofing casing.

3. Remove the dust cap (1).

3. Remove the dust cap (1).

4. Connect the tool kit 135220 (consisting of 135221 and 135222) to the DIS tester pressure sensor.

4. Connect the tool kit 135220 (consisting of 135221 and 135222) to the DIS tester pressure sensor.

5. Connect the pressure sensor to the DIS tester.

Attention:
  • Under no circumstances should the shut-off valve be screwed in until it reaches the mechanical stop.
  • This may cause damage to the valve in the pressure regulator body.

6. Install tool kit 135220 onto the fuel rail and hand tighten the knurled nut.

6. Install tool kit 135220 onto the fuel rail and hand tighten the knurled nut.

7. Unscrew the shut-off valve (1) so that the valve in the pressure regulator housing remains closed.

8. Start the engine.

9. Screw in the shut-off valve (1) until the DIS tester shows the presence of pressure.

10. Measure the fuel supply pressure:

1) Select "Measurement system".

Note: The "Multimeter" function appears.

2) Select "Pressure check".

3) Read the fuel supply pressure value.

4) Compare the actual value of the test pressure with the specified value.

Test pressure/nominal value

  • Engine N52 K: 5.0±0.02 bar.
  • Engine M54: 3.5±0.2 bar.

5) Turn off the engine.

11. Remove tool kit 135220.

1) Turn off the engine.

2) Unscrew the shut-off valve completely again.

3) Remove tool kit 135220 from the pressure regulator housing.

4) Collect and dispose of leaking fuel.

Note:
  • Read information from the fault memory of the electronic control unit of the OME system.
  • Check the recorded error messages.
  • Clear fault codes.
