Attention! The front wheel hub is mounted on a double-row roller-thrust bearing, with which it forms a single, non-separable unit. Bearings are replaced only as a set with the hub. Do not wash the bearing. The wheel hub bearing and flange are subject to replacement.
Reuse of old bearings and flange is prohibited.
The bearing can be pressed out and pressed into the swivel bearing using a hydraulic press.
Removal of the front wheel hub bearing must be carried out in the following order.
Prepare the equipment "22.1.011", "22.1.018", "31.2.113". "33.2.116", "33.2.150". "33.3.261", "33.3.262", "33.3.263". "33.3.264", "33.3.266" "33.3268", "33.4.200", "33.4.261", "33.4.262" and remove the wheel.
Remove the brake caliper and secure it to the car body with a wire clamp, leaving the pipes connected. Remove the brake disc and the pivot support. Clamp the pivot support in a vice with aluminum jaws.
Install the devices "33.2.116" and "33.2.150" using wheel bolts on the flange (fig. 13.30). Using the tool "33.4.200" press out the flange and remove the retaining ring (7, see Fig. 13.28).
Attention! The mounting surfaces must be clean and degreased.
Lubricate the bearing seat in the swivel support to 50% of its length with a compound of the type "Loctite 648/6381".
Bearing with an inner diameter of 45 mm (until 04.2000.).
Using the devices "31.2.113", "33.3.261". "33.3.262" and "33.3.266" (fig. 13.31) press the bearing out of the swivel bearing.
Install the bearing with its wide chamfer facing the pivot bearing using the tools "31.2.113", "33.3.261", "33.3.264" and "33.3.268" (fig. 13.32), press the bearing into the swivel bearing. Replace the retaining ring (7, see Fig. 13.28) and make sure it is installed correctly.
By installing the "33.3.266" device with a larger diameter to the bearing and using the devices "31.2.113", "33.3.261" and "33.3.268" (fig. 13.33) press the flange (1) into the swivel bearing.
Bearing with an inner diameter of 49 mm
Using the devices "31.2.113", "33.4.261", "33.3.261" and "33.3.263" (fig. 12.34), press the bearing out of the swivel bearing.
Install the bearing with its chamfer facing the swivel bearing.
Using the devices "22.1.011", "31.2.1.13", "33.3.261" and "33.4.262" (fig. 13.35), press the bearing into the swivel support. In this case, the "33.4.262" device is installed with the chamfer towards the bearing. Replace the retaining ring and make sure it is installed correctly.
Install the "33.3.263" device with a large diameter to the bearing and using the devices "31.2.113", "33.3.261" and "33.3.268" (fig. 13.36), press the flange (1) into the swivel bearing.
