The wheel hub runout must be checked in the following order. Prepare fixtures «00.2.480», «00.2.481», «00.2.482», «00.2.483», «00.2.484», «00.2.510» and remove the wheel. Remove the brake caliper and fasten it to the car body with a wire clip, leaving the pipes connected. Remove brake disc.
Clean the contact surface (1, fig. 13.37) and wheel bearing flange.
Assemble fixture «00.2.480», consisting of «00.2.481», «00.2.482», «00.2.483», «00.2.484» And «00.2.510». Fasten the fastening clip («00.2.481») and install the assembly on the suspension strut. Set dial gauge («00.2.510») with light preload on the contact surface of the wheel bearing flange (pic. 13.38).
Measure the axial runout of the wheel bearing flange at the largest diameter of the contact surface. Distance «A» equal to 3–4 mm.
Slowly rotate the wheel hub and read the indicator. Permissible end (axial) runout of the wheel hub on the wheel bearing flange should be no more than 0.03 mm.
If the axial runout of the hub flange exceeds the allowable value, replace the wheel hub together with the brake disc and pads. Repeat the measurement with a new wheel hub, respecting the distance «A».
