Moments of connection of elements of the rear suspension (BMW X5 E53)

Upper support of the shock absorber strut to the wheel arch - 56 Nm.

Shock absorber cylinder rod to upper shock absorber strut support:
  • nut M14 - 64 Nm.

Shock absorber strut cylinder rod to upper shock absorber strut support with external hexagon:
  • nut M12 - 64 Nm.

Shock absorber strut cylinder rod to upper shock absorber strut support with internal hexagon:
  • nut M12 - 44 Nm.

Shock absorber threaded ring – 130 Nm.

The stabilizer bar mount to the shock absorber strut and stabilizer, the plane of the key on the ball head must be parallel to the shock absorber axis - 100 Nm.

Anti-roll bar bracket to rear axle beam – 19 Nm

Trailing arm suspension to rear axle beam (tighten under normal load) – 67–77 N·m.

Guide lever to the wheel bearing support, there should be no traces of grease on the tapered journal and in the hole - 65 Nm.

Guide lever to the rear axle beam, tighten under normal load, using the device "32.3.150" and a torque wrench type "Hazet 6291-ICT" – 59 Nm.

Upper wishbone to rear axle beam, tighten to 100 Nm under normal load.

Swing arm to rear axle beam, tighten under normal load:
  • front - 100 Nm;
  • rear M14 - 165 Nm.

Rear axle beam with rubber-metal hinge to the body – 163 Nm.

Connecting the pressure pipes of the ride height control system:
  • all M10 - 14 Nm;
  • all M12 - 20 Nm.

Ground clearance sensor to bracket – 5.0 Nm.

Ground clearance sensor lever to sensor/to bracket – 8.0 Nm.

Ground clearance sensor lever to rocker arm (rear) – 8.0 Nm.

Ground clearance sensor flange to rear axle beam – 8.0 Nm.
