Replacing the engine speed sensor (BMW X5 E53)

The replacement of the engine crankshaft speed sensor must be carried out in the following order.

Remove the starter and disconnect the shock absorber (1, Fig. 6.141) from the engine shaft speed sensor. Remove the mating part (2) of the SS from the holder. Unscrew the mounting bolt (3) and remove the speed sensor.

When installing, lubricate the sensor sealing ring with a thin layer of Vaseline. Install the speed sensor and secure it with a bolt. Assemble the engine.
