Attention! It is not allowed to introduce additional additives of any kind into fuels and oils intended for vehicles manufactured by «BMW».
The car manufacturer has established its own standards for the use of oil, therefore, for reliable operation of the engine, it is necessary to use oils of quality according to the ACEA specification, with approval according to the CCMS specification, their compliance is given in section «Exploitation» this guide.
The engine has an oil level and pressure control system that monitors oil pressure, depending on the engine speed and level. The oil pressure in idling mode with a warm engine must be at least 0.5 kgf / cm2. If the engine speed is greater than or equal to the idle speed and the pressure is less than 0.5 kgf/cm2, the oil pressure warning light flashes on the instrument panel. At the maximum speed of the engine shaft, the oil pressure should be within - 4.2+0.5 kgf / cm2.
The oil pressure sensor is always installed with a new gasket and tightened to 20 Nm (2.0 kgf·m). The main reasons for the blinking indicator can be:
- low oil level;
- malfunction of pressure sensors;
- malfunction of the oil pump drive;
- oil pump malfunction;
- increased wear of the crankshaft bearings.
Engine lubrication capacity (including 0.5 l in oil filter) - 7.8 liters.
