Tightening torques for cardan shaft connections (BMW X5 E53)

Flexible coupling to the cardan shaft and gearbox:
  • all M12 (10.9) — 100 Nm.

Universal joint with crosspiece to the gearbox:
  • all M10 - 60 Nm.

The clamping ring of the retractable coupling after installation on the vehicle:
  • all - 10 Nm.

Cardan shaft to the flange of the main gear drive pinion (rear axle):
  • with crosspiece:
    • all (hexagon, M10) — 64 Nm.
    • all (Torx, M10) — 85 Nm.
  • with CV joint:
    • all (hexagon, M8) — 32 Nm.
    • all (hexagon, M10) — 64 Nm.
    • all (ribbed, M8) — 43 Nm.
    • all (corrugated, M10) — 70 Nm.

Joint fork to the middle bearing journal of the shaft on the "Loctite" compound:
  • all - 97 Nm.

Intermediate support to the body:
  • all - 21 Nm.

Flexible coupling to the front axle gearbox:
  • all — M10–10 60 Nm.

Flexible coupling to the cardan shaft:
  • all — M10–10 64 Nm.

Transfer case to gearbox:
  • all M10 - 43 Nm.

Transfer case threaded plug (M18) – 33 Nm.

Damper for transfer case (M8) – 23 Nm.

Cross beam for fastening the gearbox to the body:
  • all M10 - 41 Nm.
