Attention! Removing the rear exhaust manifold with converter is possible only after removing the front exhaust manifold with converter.
The exhaust manifold of the engine is made together with the converter (see fig. 3.29) and consists of two exhaust blocks, for 1-3 cylinders (1) and for 4–6 cylinders (10).
Both exhaust manifolds with converters must be replaced in the following order. Lock motor in mounting position and disconnect «–» battery terminal (AB). Detach the front muffler of the exhaust system and remove the reinforcement plate.
Remove retaining brackets (3 and 4 see fig. 13.46) and rubber mounts (2).
Disconnect from stabilizer bar (7) at both sides. Mark plug connectors (ShSy) sensors, release the cable from the holders, disconnect the loops and remove the oxygen content sensors in the exhaust gas, removing them from the cable box. Remove the protective cover of the injectors.
Loosen the nuts, remove the front exhaust manifold with converter and remove the rear exhaust manifold with converter.
When installing, clean the sealing surfaces and replace the seals (14, 17, see fig. 3.29).
Apply a copper-containing paste to the threads of the studs «CRC», replace all collar nuts and tighten them to 20 Nm (2.0 kgf·m).
Start the engine and check the tightness of the exhaust system by closing it with a cloth gag. Check the functioning of the engine management system («DME»).
