Replacing the right eccentric shaft (BMW X5 E53)

The replacement of the right eccentric shaft on the side of cylinders 1-4 must be carried out in the same order as for cylinders 5-8, while it is necessary.

Remove the right eccentric shaft drive motor, ignition coils of cylinders 1–4, unscrew the spark plugs of cylinders 1–4. Remove the right cylinder head cover and the right VANOS intake and exhaust actuators.



When assembling, insert the eccentric shaft as shown in Fig. 5.151. In this case, the magnetic wheel (2) is located at the rear.
