Replacing the rubber-metal hinge of the manual transmission (BMW X5 E53)

The replacement of the rubber-metal hinge of the manual transmission must be carried out in the following order. Prepare the tools "22.1.011", "22.1.012", "22.1.016", "22.1.018" and "33.3.144" and remove the transmission cross member.

Place the "22.1.016" device against the recess (2, Fig. 8.32) and screw the screw (3) by hand towards the gearbox housing. Using the tools "22.1.011/22.1.018" and "33.3.144" in combination with a nut (1) M12x1.5 under the hinge bolt M12x1.5x220, press out the rubber-metal hinge.



When installing a mark on the rubber-metal hinge and the gearbox housing (arrows, Fig. 8.33) must match.



Lubricate the hole in the crankcase and rubber-metal hinge with a compound such as "Circolight" or plastic grease such as "Kluber Polylub GLY 801" and start the device "22.1.016" (arrows, Fig. 8.34) with spikes in the hole of the rubber-metal hinge.





Press in the rubber-metal hinge using tools "22.1.019/012", "22.1.013" and "33.3.144" (arrow, Fig. 8.35), using a nut (1, M12x1.5) for bolt M12x1.5x220.
