To restore the protection of coatings, a number of mastics are used under the general name of autoanticorrosives. All of them are based on bituminous compounds with various fillers in the form of plasticizers and organic solvents. In a special series are auto-anticorrosives based on epoxy resins and hardeners. Work should be carried out at a temperature of +20°C. As autoanticorrosives, we can recommend rubber-bitumen, bituminous compounds («Avtoantikor-2»), bitumen-rubber, epoxy-rubber. Recommended for use is an automotive anti-corrosion type mastic «Bitep», rubber-bitumen type mastic «Elastocar», mastic slate type «MSA-3».
As protective preparations for the treatment of hidden surfaces from corrosion, autoconservants of the type are recommended for use «Movil», «Movil-2» And «Rezistan ML». Solvents for them are white spirit and gasoline.
To protect and seal welds, use a material of the type «Plastisol D-4A», which is applied to the primed surface with a brush and aged for drying up to 72 hours. To protect end edges and spot welds, we recommend adhesive joints based on rubber adhesives or adhesives of the type «Moment» And «88N». After applying the adhesive, a self-adhesive tape of the type «PVC».
Excellent corrosion protection with epoxy rubber paint «EPK-11», which is recommended for interior work in the body salon (floors).
To seal leaks, it is recommended to apply a type of sealant on the inside of the joints «AG» And «51–17», which must be applied with joint overlap.
Restoration of the anti-corrosion coating is carried out in the following order. Clean the damaged surface. Remove the remnants of exfoliated mastic and clean the damaged area from traces of corrosion to a metallic sheen.
Prime the surface to be restored and dry it. Prepare an anti-corrosion composition by thoroughly mixing its components. Add solvent if necessary.
Apply an anti-corrosion coating in 2-4 layers, keeping the drying interval between each layer from 2 to 7 hours. The final drying time of the entire coating is from 10 to 48 hours. The time depends on the type of coating used and is indicated in the instructions for use of autoanticorrosive.
Apply anticorrosive agents at a temperature of 15°C by spraying them with airbrushes. If necessary, these products can be diluted with white spirit or gasoline.
Before applying anti-preservatives, rinse the hidden cavities with water under pressure and dry with hot air. As a flushing agent, a preparation of the type «Threshold cleaner».
To introduce spray nozzles into hidden cavities, make holes with a diameter of 9–10 mm, followed by their closure with standard plugs.
The highest protective properties, among the film-forming petroleum compositions, are possessed by means of the type «NG-216A» And «216B».
Processing of hidden cavities should be carried out every two years with seasonal operation of the car or every year with year-round operation.
