Center panel keys
The keys of the central panel are located under the control unit of the heating and ventilation unit / air conditioner and displayed in one row, there are seven of them (from left to right), which perform the following functions:
- - driver's seat heating controller;
- - enabling the HDC system (exchange rate stability);
- — inclusion of the DSC system;
- — Opening the trunk lid;
- - turning on the PDC system (parking);
- - enabling the RPA system (tire pressure);
- — inclusion of heating of sitting of the forward passenger.
Between keys (6) And (7) there is a reserve. All keys and switches function only when the ignition is on. The seat heating is only activated when the seat is occupied by the driver or passenger. The exterior mirror heating is switched on simultaneously with the rear window heating. For vehicles equipped with air conditioning, the heated rear window automatically turns off after 10 minutes
The heating of the backs and seats of the second row of the passenger compartment is switched on using similar controls located on the rear center console.
Switches of three-level type, transition on steps is carried out by short-term pressing of a key. Holding the button down for a long time will turn off the heating.
Changing the headlight angle
Changing the angle of the headlights is directly related to the loading of the car. The adjustment ensures optimal illumination of the road and does not dazzle oncoming drivers. The BMW X5 E53 headlight range control is located on the front panel, to the left of the steering column (pic. 1.21).
The switch position corresponds to the following vehicle loading:
- «ABOUT» — driver and one passenger, without luggage;
- «1» — driver and four passengers, without luggage;
- «1» - driver and four passengers, with luggage;
- «2» — driver and full trunk. If the car is moving with a trailer, then:
- «1» — driver and one passenger, without luggage;
- «1» — driver, four passengers without luggage;
- «2» - driver and four passengers with luggage;
- «2» — driver and full trunk.
On a vehicle with ride height control at any degree of load - position «ABOUT». The exception is the option with one driver, full trunk and driving with a trailer - position «1». All this with strict observance of the permissible load on the rear axle, no more than 1630 kg.
When fitted with xenon headlights, an automatic dynamic headlight beam throw adjustment system is available as an optional feature.
Switches
The vehicle control system uses package, lever and push-button (keyboards) switches, as well as rheostat type regulators.
Parking lights and dipped beam
Lighting and headlights are controlled by a package switch (pic. 1.22), located to the left of the instrument panel and has three positions (regime):
- lighting off,
- parking lights;
- passing light:
- «see you home».
Headlights are on only when the ignition is on. When the engine is started and after the ignition is switched off, the parking lights are automatically switched on.
Parking lights
Turn on the lights on all sides of the car. Parking lights are used when parking. Parking lights can only be turned on on one side and get parking lights (see below).
Dipped beam
If you turn off the ignition with the dipped beam on, then only the parking lights remain on.
«see you home»
If, after switching off the ignition and headlights, the intermittent light signal is turned on, the dipped beam headlights will light up for a while. At your request, this function can be disabled at the workshop.
Light on warning
If after turning the key to position «0», open the driver's door without first turning off the lights, a short beep will sound to remind you of this.
On a vehicle with a text display, the reminder is reinforced by the message SAD - «Check Lowbeam Lights» (Check low beam headlights).
Permanent low beam
If desired, the light switch can be left in the dipped beam position. When the ignition is turned off, the exterior lighting will turn off.
If necessary, you can turn on the parking lights, as described above.
Automatic headlight control
In this switch position, the dipped beam headlights turn on and off automatically, depending on the ambient light (tunnel, dusk, snow, rain). If, in addition to the automatically switched on exterior lighting, you have switched on the fog lamps, the exterior lighting will not automatically turn off.
Automation is not able to assess the degree of illumination better than the driver, because. sensors do not respond to fog. In such cases, you must turn on the headlights yourself.
