


- On the M62 engine, open the clamps (1, Fig. 2.28), compress the retaining ring (2) and disconnect the hose (3).
- On the engine "N62", open the clamps (1, Fig. 2.29) and lift the cover (4) of the air filter housing.
- Remove the replaceable filter element
- Wipe the top and bottom of the filter housing with a clean cloth.
- Inspect the filter, if it is slightly dirty, carefully clean it (knock it out), turning the dirty side down. Replace the oil filter with a new one. Do not blow the filter with compressed air.
- Install the filter element in the reverse order.
- Insert the new filter element into the housing so that the gasket fits into the opening. Check the sealing gasket between the IRV and the upper part of the air filter for damage, replace if necessary.
- Insert the holder until both protrusions are fixed. On the M62 engine, put on the hose (3. see fig. 2.28) until it stops. The locking ring (2) should lock into place with a distinct click.
- For a diesel engine, secure the cover evenly onto the cylinder head and secure the intake manifold.
