Flushing the automatic transmission oil cooler with pipelines (BMW X5 E53)

            0

Flushing the automatic transmission oil cooler with pipelines is necessary when installing a new or repaired (spare) automatic transmission. Flushing the oil pipelines should only be done with the automatic transmission removed.

Flushing the automatic transmission oil radiator with pipelines must be carried out in the following order.

Prepare the equipment "17.2.011", "17.2.015", "17.2.016", "17.2.017", "17.2.018". "17.2.019", "17.2.021" and a drain tank.

Remove the automatic transmission, connect the appropriate fittings to the oil lines coming from the automatic transmission towards the oil radiator, according to the automatic transmission model (see below).

Connect the pressure pipe "17.2.019" from the oil supply device to the radiator using a quick-release coupling.

Connect the drain pipe "17.2.018" from the radiator to the drain tank using a quick-release coupling.

Using an oil supply device, flush the oil supply channels and oil cooler with transmission oil (about 1 l).

Reconnect the pipelines and flush the oil lines and oil radiator with transmission oil (about 1 l) in the opposite direction.

Disconnect the quick-release couplings and remove the fittings.

The connection diagram of the pipelines for flushing the automatic transmission radiator of the "A5S 390R" and "GA6HP26Z" types is shown in Figure 9.35. The connection diagram of the pipelines for flushing the automatic transmission radiator of the "A5S 440Z" type is shown in Figure 9.34.
