Attention! If the distance between the front side member and the double cardan shaft is less than 5 mm, then the steering gear must be re-adjusted during installation.
Checking the distance between the front side member and the double cardan shaft must be carried out in the following order. Unscrew the bolts M12x1.5x75 (arrows, fig. 12.15) fastening the steering mechanism to the beam of the front axle.
On a left-hand drive vehicle, press the steering mechanism to the stop on the left side - backwards, when viewed in the direction of travel, and on the right side - forwards. On a right-hand drive vehicle, press the steering mechanism to the stop on the left side - forward, if viewed in the direction of travel, and on the right side - backwards. This will ensure the maximum distance between the front side member and the dual cardan shaft.
Replace self-locking nuts of M12 bolts (10.9) and tighten them in three steps - with a torque of 100 Nm (10.0 kgf·m) + 50 Nm (5.0 kgf·m) + Tighten by 90°.
