Replacing the front crankshaft oil seal (BMW X5 E53)

The front crankshaft oil seal must be replaced in the following order. Prepare the tools "11.2.380", "11.2.383", "11.2.385" and "11.3.280". Remove the vibration damper. When the vibration damper is designed with a separate hub, it is necessary to remove the vibration damper hub.

Install the "11.2.383" device on the crankshaft (Fig. 3.80).

Install the device "11.2.385" (Fig. 3.81) on the crankshaft, which centers the device "11.2.380".

Before installing a new oil seal, lubricate its working edges with engine oil. Using the "11.3.280" tool (Fig. 3.83) and rotating its central bolt, install the front crankshaft oil seal flush into the timing belt cover.
