The air conditioning compressor is driven by a V-ribbed belt. The drive belt is tensioned automatically.
Attention! Before removing the belt, fix the direction of its rotation in the form of an arrow with a marker if it is planned to be reused. Put the belt in place only according to the marking.
If contaminated with hydraulic fluid, coolant or oil, the drive belt must be replaced.
The drive V-belt is changed under the following circumstances:
- contamination with coolant and oil;
- the appearance of belt slipping noise, due to its oiling or stretching (elongation);
- the formation of cracks and brittleness;
- breakage of the frame and individual strands;
- flaking and wear of the side surfaces.
Replacing the drive belt of the air conditioning compressor with a hydraulic tensioner must be carried out in the following order. Remove the protective cover of the tensioner. Loosen the tension on the compressor drive belt by inserting a hex wrench into the bolt on the idler pulley (dark arrow, fig. 3.168, a).
Slowly turning the key clockwise (light arrow), press the hydraulic tensioner away from the belt, and remove the compressor drive belt.
When installing the belt, press the tensioner all the way to the right and install a new belt according to the diagram of its laying. Make sure the belt fits snugly into the grooves (streams) pulleys.
For version with mechanical tensioner (pic. 3.168, b) unload the tension roller by turning the socket wrench in the hexagon socket (dark arrow). Remove the A/C drive belt.
When installing the drive belt, the roller will automatically set the required tension force. The tension force of the roller is not adjustable. Check the correct position of the belt on the pulleys.
