Note. The need to replace one or two suspension struts can only be identified using a shock tester («Shock-Tester») directly on the car or at the shock absorber diagnostic stand in the removed state.
Removal of a back depreciation rack with a spring spring is necessary for carrying out in a following order.
Loosen the nuts (arrows, fig. 14.57, a, and 14.57, b), remove the expansion rivets and remove the luggage compartment trim panel on the left and right sides.
Support the wheel bearing support with a garage jack, while avoiding tension on the brake hoses. Remove protective cap (12, see fig. 14.56). Loosen the nuts (11) damper bar upper support and remove the sealing washer (8). Loosen the nut (3), remove the bolt (2) and disconnect the shock absorber from the rocker arm, if necessary, press the shock absorber with a wooden wedge.
Release the jack and remove the shock absorber (1) and spring (16) springs. Holding the stem from turning with a spanner wrench, unscrew the nut (10) and remove the top support (7) suspension strut (1).
Installation of a shock-absorbing rack should be carried out upside-down, at the same time it is necessary.
Replace self-locking nut (10, M12x1.5) shock absorber rod and tighten it to 27 Nm (2.7 kgf·m).
Replace self-locking nuts (11, M10) suspension strut upper support and tighten them to 56 Nm (5.6 kgf·m).
Install a new bushing in the rocker arm bore and tighten the new self-locking nut (3) with collar (M14x1.5) final torque 165 Nm (16.5 kgf·m) on a loaded car standing on wheels.
Replace body panel expansion rivets with new ones.
