The design of the mechanism for adjusting the position of the steering column with a mechanical drive is shown in Figure 12.30.
Lever replacement (20) adjustment of the position of the steering column with a mechanical drive must be carried out in the following order. Prepare fixtures «31.2.200» And «31.2.204». Remove the upper and lower trim casing from the steering column.
Disengage the torsion spring (8, fig. 12.47) at both sides. Loosen the nut (1) and remove thrust bearing (2) and pressure washer (3). Remove retainer (4).
Using fixtures «32.1.200» And «32.1.204» (pic. 12.48), extrude (light arrow) jig (9) from the adjustment lever (5). Hold the device by the flats with a wrench or grip. Remove the adjustment lever.
When installing, the adjustment lever must face the steering wheel lock and the square head of the jig (9, fig. 12.49) it is necessary to bring the steering shaft mounting bracket into the hole in the pipe.
Press in clamping fixture (9), using the device «32.1.200», to the adjustment lever (5). Put on the retainer (4), pressure washer (3) and thrust bearing (2).
Insert torsion spring (8) at both sides. Replace nut (1) and tighten it with a torque of 3.0 Nm (0.3 kgf·m).
